What is the background behind the Sustainable Development Commission and the Scorecard?

You can watch a video with more detail on the Commission and background to the Scorecard here: https://vimeo.com/244731848

How do I use the Scorecard?

You will need details of the proposed scheme to hand.

Step 1. To start, click 'Assess a development'. Then enter your email address and the name of your development.

Step 2. You will then be asked a series of questions about the site and the type of development proposed. This process tailors the analysis to be relevant to your project. Guidance on each of the questions is given on the right hand side of the question.

Step 3. The Scorecard will present you with a series of statements related to sustainable development. You should use the slider to select the extent to which you agree with the statement, on a five point scale from 'Strongly disagree' to 'Strongly agree'. Use the best/worst practice examples to guide your response. If you're unsure of the terminology, there are 'Advice' and 'Definitions' buttons to provide additional clarity. The Notes section should be used to justify your response, either directly or by referencing other documentation, drawings or reports. If you feel that the statement is not relevant to your scheme, you can select 'Not Applicable' and the response will not be counted in the scoring. Note that you won't be penalised for selecting 'Not Applicable' but you should provide justification in the Notes section as to why this is the case. Once your response is complete, use the arrows to move on to the next statement. We recommend using the 'Save & Exit' button frequently when undertaking Step 3 to ensure your responses are saved, as firewall settings and ISP issues external to the Scorecard can cause results to be lost. This will send you an email with a link so that you can revisit your analysis. When you've completed the final statement, press the 'Completed' button in the bottom right corner to calculate the scores.

Step 4. Your results are displayed, together with advice on how to improve your score. If you want to go back and edit any of your responses, use the 'Back' button. If you're happy with the analysis and results, you can download a pdf version of the report by clicking, 'Download your report'. You will then be asked to reconfirm your details, after which the pdf report should be available to download, or may download automatically, depending on your browser settings. You will also receive an email with a link to your analysis.

How long will the process take?

This depends on how well you know the scheme. If you have all the details to hand, then the process should take about an hour. However, you should 'Save & Exit' at regular intervals when conducting the analysis to prevent loss of data.

Is my analysis secure?

Your results and analysis are encrypted to ensure commercial confidentiality. Iceni Projects and the Sustainable Development Commission will collect information on the site and type of development, and the related scores to assess progress against sustainable development principles. However, none of the responses provided in Step 3 are accessible to anyone but you, as they may contain commercially sensitive information. The email you are sent contains an encryption key which is only available to you.

I've completed my analysis, where's my report?

Once you're on the results page (Step 4), you should be able to download a pdf report by clicking, 'Download your report'. You will then be asked to reconfirm your details, after which the pdf report should be available to download, or may download automatically, depending on your browser settings.

I'd like to change my responses once I've finished. How do I do this?

When you've completed the analysis, you should be sent an email containing a link to your project. You can use this link to change your responses if you so wish. Your report will be updated based on your new responses. Note that emails from the Scorecard website can end up in Spam folders, so do check this if you haven't received an email. If you have multiple projects or want to keep a log of your assessments, you can create a multiple project login to see all your assessments in one place.

Do I need to do the analysis in one session?

No. You can 'Save & Exit' at any time if you want to collect more information or come back another time. You will be asked to reconfirm your details, after which you should receive an email with a link so that you can revisit your analysis.
